Residential Support Specialists create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu for the emotional nurturing and healthy development of youth in Residential Care. Youth in Residential Care are experiencing significant behavioral, emotional and mental health challenges and require 24 hour care and treatment. Through a trauma informed lens, Specialists empower youth to execute their individualized treatment plans while providing physical care, social and moral guidance, teaching skills, and role modeling. You will help provide direct care to youth in treatment by: Providing individual and group milieu counseling to youth facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, active psychosis, anger management and trauma. Developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with other team members, including managers, nurses, therapists, and doctors. Empowering youth to reach their safety goals, and provide crisis support as needed. Creating a safe and supportive environment where youth feel heard and understood. Advocating for the needs of youth. Celebrating the successes of each youth on their journey to recovery.
