About the position-
Amazing family looking for a compassionate and dependable caregiver for their 11-year-old son, "M", who is a delightful child with a love for walks, kicking soccer balls , and spending time with his siblings. "M" requires help with daily activities such as walking, eating, and personal care due to his physical needs, and he communicates his joy and affection through non-verbal means, making him a beloved figure in his community.
The ideal caregiver will not only attend to his physical needs but will also engage deeply with him, enhancing his quality of life through joyful daily activities, therapeutic exercises, and local excursions that could include visits to parks, beaches, or zoos. The caregiver should be a nurturing individual who can initiate fun and engaging activities, and must be a safe and experienced driver.
The family (the best :)
The family, which also includes two sisters and their mother-an attorney who works mostly from home and identifies as queer-is very social and active in their Jewish community, celebrating various holidays and hosting gatherings. They invite the caregiver to be part of their vibrant social and community life! This caregiving opportunity promises to be both fulfilling and engaging, offering a chance to make a significant impact on a loving and inclusive family environment!
Responsibilities- The caregiver's responsibilities include assisting son, who requires help with walking, diapering, feeding, bathing, and general engagement to ensure his happiness. Given sons weight of about 65lbs, the role can be physically demanding. Additionally, the caregiver will be involved in several of son's therapeutic activities, including physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), feeding routines, and basic sign language, all of which will be taught to the caregiver.
Beyond direct care for son, the caregiver will also handle household tasks related to his needs, such as meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, and general tidying. This comprehensive role not only supports son's physical and emotional well-being but also contributes to the smooth running of household operations.
Living quarter: The caregiver will be provided with an in-law unit featuring its own entrance, which includes a spacious bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, ensuring privacy and comfort. On workdays, the caregiver will have access to the entire house while caring for "M". On days off, the caregiver can enjoy their separate living space, offering a balance of involvement with the family and personal independence.
