Transportation Not RequiredWe are seeking a full-time elementary teacher who will support our vision of: - encouraging children to solve problems on their own with guidance from parents and teachers - planning curriculum designed around the interests, needs, and abilities of individual students - emphasizing the importance of learning by doing, problem-solving, and critical thinking, as opposed to traditional approaches that focus on memorization and rote learning - placing a primary focus on teaching social and emotional skills - play-based, experiential. learning - supporting students in becoming confident and compassionate people, who will be the dreamers, thinkers, and doers of tomorrow Our classroom sizes are small (12-14 students) and we regularly have multi-age activities and groupings to meet each child where they are at academically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers meet weekly to collaborate and plan out lessons and whole-school enrichment. Teachers take turns supervising lunch and snack, sports, and open play periods. Each classroom teacher also sends out regular communication to families and has meetings with parents to check in on progress and how to best support children. Teachers participate in school community events and monthly parent meetings as part of our efforts to build community and share knowledge and resources. Requirements for this position: Experience working in primary education Understanding of Progressive Education philosophy Excellent communication skills Ability to design hands-on, experiential learning activities Emotional maturity and willingness to learn and reflect Demonstrated history of positive relationships with children in the classroom Ability to work on a team and with other adults Flexibility to adapt to student needs and classroom dynamics Understanding of children's developmental phases
