Small Steps Family Daycare has one opening for an infant and one opening for ages two through kindergarten. We are located on a quiet cul-de-sac in Hollywood, MD, 1.5 miles north of the Hollywood Firehouse and a mile south of Jones Wharf Road on the southbound side of Route 235. Our school districts are Duke Elementary and St. John's Schools. Hours of operation are 5:45 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Costs of daycare are dependent upon the age of the child and care required, i.e., regular full-time, part-time, special teacher rates, etc. Regular full-time care per month for an infant is $200, for a two-year old is $175, and for a three through five-year old is $165. Our program is structured to promote a sense of order and a feeling of security but is flexible enough to keep from being stifling. We believe that children learn through play and hands-on activities. Our toddlers and preschoolers discover shapes, colors, numbers, the alphabet, sharing, and manners. Children also work on their fine and gross motor skills. We have a large fenced-in playground for outside play. Lots of books, puzzles, learning games, toys, art supplies, and music will keep your child's mind and body active during free time. We take early childhood classes and have CPR, SIDS, First Aid, and Emergency Preparedness Certifications. We provide healthy meals and snacks for all ages as well as diapers, wipes, and formula for the infants (the cost is included within our rates). We would love to have you and your child join our daycare family! Space is limited so call soon for a tour and interview.

We provide a home environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. Our Little House Daycare staff is committed to the families we serve, providing support and encouragement. One of our main goals is to support children's desire to be life-long learners. Our Little Curriculum. . . Circle Time. . . Circle Time is a great time to have children learn to express themselves. This daily routine is integrated into the curriculum to help children incorporate listening, speaking, and taking turns. This is also a wonderful time to include time awareness, mathematics, colors, shapes, the alphabet, and much more! Study Time. . . Study Time is a great time for children to discover the world around them. By presenting a wide array of topics, children are more aware and open to discuss different things. Children will become more aware of the solar system, different countries, different states in the nation, and different animal groups within their world. Starting curriculum early and repetitiously encourages the growth and grasp of concepts that will further blossom in the child's life. Don't be surprised when your little one comes home talking about all the new and exciting things that they have discovered during their day! Potty Time. . . Potty Time is prompted at least every 2 hours, on the even hours of our day. Children under the age of 2 are changed every 2 hours at a minimum, but are changed whenever necessary. Children, 2 and older, are encouraged to begin potty training. Story Time. . . Story Time is a time to focus on literature with a positive character trait or moral in place. It is also a time for interactive communication. Children are asked about what the retained from the story and how to apply it to their lives. Art and Music Time. . . Exposure to art and music at an early age has been shown to provide measurable gains throughout a child's life. It improves pattern matching capabilities, critical thinking, creative expression, and the ability to learn new things. It builds up the levels of self-confidence, self-esteem, motivation, cooperation, and communication in children. It helps children understand other people's opinions and points.
