I am the Executive Director of Brady's Bridge. I have a background in marketing and management, but my most important job is being a special needs parent. My husband and I began Brady’s Bridge in 2012 with simply a desire to provide support and resources to families of kids with special needs. The birth of our son, Brady, in 2011, opened our eyes to a new world of diagnoses, therapies, medical claims and the list goes on. Just knowing where to turn for help was overwhelming and we found resources were not readily available or easy to find. We spent most of our time in the hospital in 2011. Brady had 26 surgeries that year. Being in the hospital during the holidays proved to be even harder than other times of the year. So the idea for our annual Christmas Tree Drive was born in December 2011. We officially began the drive in 2012. Each year we raise funds to deliver 2ft Christmas Trees with lights and decorations to kids in the hospital during the holidays. We started with delivering 56 trees in December of 2012 to our local Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, TX. 2024 was our 13th year of the tree drive. We delivered 600 trees to 7 different local children's hospitals in Central Texas. When our son entered Kindergarten in 2016, we were introduced to a new challenge- After school care programs that would be able to accommodate his needs. Traditional programs, on average, staff 1 adult to 20 plus kids. Because Brady has a feeding tube and several other diagnoses, including a seizure disorder, they could not provide the individualized care that he required. This not only creates a challenge for the children, but also for working parents that do not have a flexible schedule. How do they provide care for their child and maintain their source of income? We found a building in 2019 and began the permitting and remodel process to open our own afterschool care program for kids of ALL abilities. We completed the remodel in 2024 and became a licensed program at the beginning of 2025. We are now ready and along with our team of experts, we are so excited to serve families in Leander!
