About Gnarware Workshop
GnarWare Workshop is a Chicago based ceramics studio. This space is dedicated to providing studios, workshops, and drop-in tutorials to help artists and hobbyists work through ideas. GnarWare is committed to material and conceptual experimentation as a workshop and communitygathering place. GnarWare encourages conversations around developing skills and de-skilling developments. We are dedicated to serving the greater Chicago area by providing a working studio and open conversations about clay, craft and form. Family Day Workshop: Flowers are coming!

This is a workshop explores making decorative flower forms to celebrate the emergence of spring! Participants will use hand building techniques to make a variety of pieces. Participants will paint the pieces with underglaze. Family day workshops are designed for parents and children to work on projects together led by an instructor. One reservation ($45) for up to four participants, an $20/person for more than four (paid day of). No experience necessary. There is no age limit, but participants under 4 years old will require much more guidance from guardian. All kids must be accompanied by a guardian. Clay and underglaze are included. Projects will be clear glazed and ready for pick up two weeks after the class.

They will underglaze decorate and glaze pieces. Throughout the class, students will also explore what clay is and artists that use the material. Mid-week students will visit the National Museum of Mexican Art. This class comes with all materials and tools. Parents will be asked to sign a release of liability waiver before the class begins. We welcome parents that would like to come to class with students. Cracker snacks will be provided, please pack snacks if your child has a specific preference.

YOUTH Intro to Wheel Throwing

Students will finish 3-5 projects. - Students get unlimited clay during the class time. - Students have up to 2 months to glaze pieces - Tools are provided for all students -Students may come in to practice during studio hours when there are no classes in the wheel room. - Classes non-refundable after the first class commences. We don't do make ups. Cancellations will not be refunded less than 24 hours in advance. HEALTH WARNING: Wheel throwing can be physically intense on joints and muscles, and can cause minor strains and injury.
