What your child’s day will look like
This drop-in bilingual music class introduces babies and toddlers to Spanish and music through singing and musical play. Parents and caregivers join their children to sing the songs from Mexico and other parts of Latin America, as well as Spanish language translations of well loved English language children’s songs. The teacher will suggest and model movements and the use of percussion instruments to enable children and their families to interact using instruments and toys available in their own homes, and will lead musical games using appropriate props such as stuffed animals and puppets. Guest musicians may accompany the teacher on a variety of instruments over the course of the summer. Prior knowledge of Spanish is not necessary. More than one adult can attend with a registered child. Class is held in Spanish and English. This activity is a good companion to Community Music Center’s Music for Children.

Teacher Daniel is great! He makes the Zoom class very engaging and shifts quickly between material to keep even the youngest children entertained. We enjoy learning new songs and stories from him that we can revisit throughout the week.

Bring a blanket to sit on. Bring your own instruments, if you can--shaker egg, wooden spoons, tambourine, wood blocks, etc! Please note health and safety protocols as they relate to this class: -If you are not feeling well, please stay at home. -Beginning August 29, 2022, wearing a mask at CMC is strongly recommended but not required with the exception of certain higher-risk activities outlined below. We encourage our entire community to continue to wear a mask for the health and safety of our community. We ask you to be considerate of requests from faculty or other students, as some of our community members may share space with or care for immunocompromised individuals. -Instruments will not be shared between children. Instruments will be cleaned and sanitized.
