About

Winter Solstice Sacred Circle Dance
Tuesday, December 21, 6-8PM

You are invited to take time out of this busy season and enter the longest night of the year in sacred dance and community. We will take our place in the continuum of time, joining circles around the world welcoming our Earth Star’s journey of returning light. Together we will light our lanterns of peace, hope, faith and love, “lighting up the night with our heavenly fire” in ceremony and dance.
Come, come whoever you are, wanderer, worshiper, come…” ~Rumi~

Each simple dance will be taught, no experience required.
Note: all are invited to join in the custom of wearing white
Registration deadline: Sunday, December 19

She developed, organized and led SCD workshops, trainings, events and retreats in US, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, S. Korea and Israel and leads occasional pilgrimages to holy and wild places. As an International Peace Activist, Ellen led dances of peace and solidarity from Occupy Boston to the Syrian Border; from US Navel Base in S. Korea to the holy island of Iona, Scotland; from the Imagine Peace Tower of Reykjavik, Iceland to John Lennon Peace Park in Havana, Ellen is the founder and past director of MT Holyoke College Sacred Circle Dance Troupe. As a student of Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox and Creation Spirituality she is on the faculty as a Creation Spirituality Artist and serves as a Creative Consultant to the Matthew Fox Legacy Project: www.dailymetitationswithmatthewfox.org.

The Sacred Dance Community was founded in 1976 by German Dance Master Bernhard Wosien in collaboration with the Findhorn Foundation, Scotland. http://www.findhorn.org It is a collection of traditional dances and contemporary choreographies which work on many levels to create community through celebration and devotion. When we join hands and dance these simple dancing mantras in circles, lines and spirals, a blessing descends, energy is activated and with intention our dancing becomes a spiritual practice that transforms and heals self, others, our living planet. Ellen believes the original impulse to dance came from a deep desire to connect with divine mystery and this impulse is encoded in our DNA.

Ellen was trained and certified at The Findhorn Foundation in Scotland to present Sacred Circle Dance in the Findhorn Tradition and is dedicated to keeping the joy of dancing in community alive!!
