During this inspirational nature skills class participants will learn how to create a traditional coiled basket from Texas Yucca Leaves. From forest floor to finished product, students will work closely with experienced basket weavers in order to created a one of a kind piece of fully functional art. Students will also learn all about:

• Locating & harvesting quality yucca leaves
• Cleaning, drying & storing yucca leaves
• Unique styles of stitching
• Different shapes & sizes
• How to finish the basket rim evenly

All basket making materials and supplies will be provided. Each student will leave with one small yucca basket that they stitched themselves with yucca leaves. There is always plenty of material to left over to make a bigger basket and finish it at home if the student should choose to do so.
