I have grown up with all manner of dog breeds / temperaments / sizes! I have raised large French lop rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Gerbils, Hamsters, Fish... I personally have had three dogs - all Jack Russells and have had family who have owned Labradors, Retrievers, German Shepherds; either way there has been no dog too large for a scratch and a walk.
