I have worked within the care sector for 32 years on and off. I have worked in nursing homes as well as in domicillary care delivering person-centred care to individuals living in their own homes. I started working as a care assistant and I then worked my way up the ladder, working as senior carer, care supervisor, care co-ordinator and eventually becoming a care manager. I have an NVQ level 2 in care and I am currently working towards a QCF level 5, leadership for health and social care diploma. I have had training and have additional certificates in moving and assisting, fire awareness, level 2 the principles of dementia care, level 2 understanding the safe handling of medication, food and hygiene, stoma and catheter care, yesterday, today and tomorrow dementia awareness, health and safety in the workplace including cossh, infection control and safe food handling, basic awareness training on safeguarding vulnerable adults, first aid at work, death, dying and bereavement and safeguarding do adults at risk, MCA & DoLS for managers.
