I have been a carer for over 25 years. I worked in Essex with Crossroads which was a respite service. This was a charity and i worked with them for 10 years until they lost their funding. I then worked for another conpany as a respite carer for 9 years. During these years i worked with one family at a time and was trained by nurses/doctors on their individual care, so that the family members could relax knowing their loved ones were in good hands. I have worked with many dementia clients, ms, parkinsons, quadriplegic client, cerebral palsy, special needs. During this time i completed my NVQ social health care level 2. . As a respite carer i became part of the family and had a brilliant relationship with the families i worked who still keep in touch. I then left essex to move to lincolnshire where i became a carer for my sister who had multiple illnesses and unfortunately passed away a year ago. I have references from my last job.
