I started babysitting when I was around 14. I looked after a family friends foster children who were 7 months old and 7 years. This would include cooking for them, putting them to bed, reading them stories and also supervising the older child while he gave himself his medication. In school I did health and social care which allowed me to gain experience in a primary school when I was on a month long placement. When I left school I started a year long college course where I got my level 2 diploma in childcare. This course taught me a lot about children’s developmental and nutritional needs as well as the importance of play. From age 16 I began looking after my cousins (ages 3 years and 1 year) who I have on a regular basis, I take them on days out to the park and aquarium and have them on sleepovers a lot. I also look after many family friends children the ages vary from a couple months old to around 6/7. I absolutely love looking after children and getting to know them and watch their personalities develop. I do not drive but am happy to get buses or walk to wherever I have to.
