Child Care in Fernie

| I have been working with children for many years, when I was still in school I volunteered to help teach gymnastics to students in lower years and then later on became a qualified instructor. I am also a swim teacher and I am capable of instructing large groups of kids of different ages. I have spent 2 summers in Texas with Camp America as a counsellor to young girls, whilst I was there I had to supervise the campers 24 hours a day and teach swimming and field sports. My career so far has been very rewarding because I love helping children learn and seeing them improve. Furthermore I am First Aid and CPR trained and my experience as a lifeguard has made me comfortable with emergency situations. I enjoy being outdoors or spending time doing arts & crafts and I love taking care of animals. My 2 year visa begins this October and I am available for either part time or full time work.

| Hello Fernie families ! I am a 27 year old Early Childhood Teacher who has just relocated from Australia to Fernie. I have my 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and have 5 years experience working with children aged birth-5 years. I have all of my Australian checks, child protection and first aid qualifications and will of course obtain any certifications specific to Canada that are required. I just thought I’d introduce myself, connect with the community and put the feelers out there to see if anyone is looking for, or will be looking for ongoing childcare in the near future. | Hello families :) My name is Alexis ! I can’t wait to hear from you I’m a 23 year old, outgoing, positive, confident, hardworking woman, with an immense amount of child care experience ! I’m a personal support worker with 2 years of hospital experience. I’ve just finished a year in Australia , where I worked with a beautiful family as a live in aupair (nanny) ! Where I worked with two amazing children 4 and 6 years old ! It was the best experience I’ve ever had, I became part of their family, and I’m really looking for something similar ! I am looking for live out, but am open to live in for the right family :) My job Included watching the kiddos for two hours before school, lunches packed . Take the kiddos to school , and then after school activities like gymnastics, swimming ect ! But mostly having time to bond and build the strong relationship I did with the family :) I helped out around the house and with slight meal prep, and general cleaning up after myself and kids :) I’ve also had many other babysitting jobs in the past with all ages ! | I really enjoy spending time with young people and find their curiosity about the world around them inspiring. I am a mature, responsible and patient person. I understand that childcare is a huge responsibility and your children's safety and wellbeing will be my priority. I love the outdoors and being active. I also enjoy reading (out loud to inquisitive minds especially) and believe in trying to limit screen time as much as possible. I am capable of domestic duties such as cooking healthy meals, laundry and cleaning. I have been working in the professional sector since graduating university but I am looking for different work while on my 2 year working visa. | An awareness of particularly the challenges in addition to success’ I have faced throughout my own development has made me passionate about enabling and caring for other young people. I have channeled this passion into my experiences over the years working with children of all ages and abilities from a variety of countries including the US, Cambodia and France since the age of 18. I more recently cared for a 6 and 3 year old in Fernie, BC last winter, cooking, cleaning, entertaining as well as giving lifts to the kids in my care. I have a calm and nurturing temperament but as a snowboarder, runner, climber and aerial yoga instructor also feel I have a lot of energy to offer a child. | I am a 26 year old Australian who has many years experience caring for and teaching a range of different children with varying ages and abilities. Back home in Australia I coordinated a before and after school care program while studying outdoor recreation and education at university. After completing my degree I worked in a secondary school teaching Physical Education, Outdoor Education and Health, as well as casual relief teaching in many primary schools. During my time in Canada I have gained much more experience in babysitting children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old and find this job fulfilling and rewarding.
