Emotionally Intelligent Educator, Writer, and Language Arts professional
| I am a progressive educator, arts professional, and outdoors lover living in Squamish, BC. My attraction to tutoring, whether online or in a homeschool setting, begins with my firm and joyful desire to support the "whole child" - social, cognitive, psychological, and physical development inclusive. I do so through creative and imaginative learning environments, encouraging my students to be curious about the subject with which they need help. My focus is keenly trained towards a love for learning, which can be threatened when a child needs extra help in a specific subject area. In my experience, immersive learning reveals a diversity of wonderful characteristics in students while still securing the competencies necessary for the Ministry's guidelines. Working with students K-12, I use explicit instruction in short lesson periods to aide in retention and longer-term memory as daily rhythms are an important component of my teaching philosophy. Some lessons are intended to build further upon the one before while others repeat material in order to root the information properly. The “how” and “why” of each lesson may feature, as will guided instruction moving onto independent practice.
