Companion and Caregiver for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities.
|
When my grandmother was in her 90s, she lived 3km away and I began helping my mom with her care. I would regularly visit to help with things such as housekeeping, taking medication, and checking the safety of her home, but the most rewarding aspect to these visits was to engage her mentally: By getting her telling stories, telling her what's new in my kids' lives, discussing deep topics, etc. I would help her fight through her dementia. By doing so, her depression decreased and she found renewed joy in her final years. This is when I fell in love with caregiving for seniors.
I also worked for at least 4 years (it's been awhile, so I'm unclear how long it was) at 2 different homes for adults with disablilities. I offer more details on both my cover letter and my resume.
