In Grade 11, as part of my SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) program’s requirement, I did my co-op placement at Dundas West Animal Hospital for 6 weeks. Some of my tasks include assisting the veterinarians and veterinary assistants during the animal’s pre-surgery and post-surgery, walking dogs, and playing with the kittens in the adoption centre. Currently I am volunteering at Etobicoke Humane Society as a Cat Volunteer. My tasks include feeding and playing with the cats, as well as keeping their cage area and litter clean. I’ve been volunteering at this shelter for 3 years now. I am an avid animal lover and that is why I continue to volunteer at the shelter to help these animals.
