I have graduated UBC with a bachelor of arts in linguistics, and recently received my diploma in TESL at the International Language Academy of Canada. During my bachelors degree, I have studied countless topics about languages including language acquisition, language ideologies, as well as accents/how to make sound or specific consonants/ etc. I have over 5 years of private tutoring experience, where I focused on English/ESL tutoring. I have studied grammar, writing, phonics, reading and understanding with my students. Although most of my students during my tutoring years were younger, I also do have experience with classroom teaching for adults as it was a part of my practicum for my diploma. I believe the skills I learned during my diploma which was a very hands on program, has given me the skills to teach effectively. I am also fluent in Japanese and have some experience teaching the language, and am able to offer tutoring for it as well.
