As a teaching assistant volunteer at a school, I helped students perform experiments in the lab, helped them study for exams and counselled them regarding physical and mental wellness. It requires good communication skills, the ability to accept input and flexibility to teach a class of diverse students, which I am confident; I have. From daily discussions to facilitating my involvement with children, my biology teacher played a huge role in shaping my interests. My interest in pediatric cancer research and social work inspired me to start a childhood cancer club at the University of which I am currently the president. I am also passionate about mental health, especially amongst the youth hence, I became a Cam’s Kids executive and USHINE wellness facilitator and mentor at my University. I am also fluent in three languages, them being English, Hindi and Punjabi. In my previous role as a volunteer at The Waves Hospital, I am responsible for a wide array of tasks like attending to patients at the reception and delivering meals. My teachers and supervisors have entrusted me with roles requiring empathy and confidentiality which helped me further develop these skills.
