I have ten years experience as a certified PSW. I currently work as a supply educational assistant with the school board, which has offered me lots of experience with a range of different children. I struggled with health issues, myself, as a child, and that gave me the empathy and understanding to be able to give care with true compassion. I have experience working with all age groups and a variety of different needs. Some examples are: dementia, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, encephalitis, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and autism. I am trained in lifts and transfers, medication and narcotic handling, diabetes care, enemas/suppositories/catheters/urostomies/colostomies, and, of course, assisting with complete care...as well as assisting with probably anything you can think of from wheel chair cleaning and Roho cushion care to g-tube feeds to physiotherapies.
