I have worked with special needs children since I was in elementary school. I grew up with a child that was diagnosed with autism and spent most of my time working and playing with them. Then in high school I was found in the resource and special needs rooms everyday. I have worked with physically challenged children, developmental challenges, mental illnesses and learning challenges. I took a high school course called Peer Tutoring where I learned about all the different special needs and worked with students with different needs. I was then given a job to teach a special needs dance class with students ranging from high school to seniors of all different needs. I think that people with special needs are so unique and have so many abilities which is why I love to work with them.
