I started my career working with youth with disabilities as a lifeguard and event coordinator. Some 8 yeas later, around 2016 while living in Calgary, I got back into community support work taking youth out for rock climbing and hiking adventures in the Rocky Mountains.
Right now I have one community support client and am looking for another community support client or a homeshare situation.
I'm comfortable with transportation and I have access to a hobby farm with horses, chickens, ducks and other animals I often take my clients to. My horse likes being groomed and there are friendly dogs and cats there as well who like being pet. My usual routine with my current client is to go to the farm for a visit, then back to my house for some painting followed by a movie and/or some games on the nintendo switch until it's time to go home. Something similar to this would be my ideal situation with a future client.
I have auditory, light sensitivities and chronic pain issues so I tend to avoid taking on clients where I will need to take them out to shops, appointments etc on a routine basis as I get overstimulated and it tires me out disproportionately. Though I'm happy to help with this kind of thing every once and a while.
