I grew up with my Uncle who was developmentally delayed. The doctors said he would only live until ten years old but he ended living until 27. Even then, his passing came about due to improper care. I understand the stresses involved in caring for someone with special needs and the immense dedication it takes. My father is a teacher and taught special needs children during the summer break. As a youngster, I was accustomed to helping out and being involved with many of his students. It would be a meaningful way for me to give back to this world.
