I am a university student, but I will be off for the summer starting June 1, 2022. I am Majoring in Childhood and Youth Studies, I have a double minor in Sign language and Disability studies. I have 8+ years of experience working with children. - babysat for a few families of up to 3 children at a time. - Highschool co-op in spec ed class -home care for teenager with disabilities, 3+ years. includes meal prep, activity planning, and personal care after he underwent a surgery. The main experience I obtained was working for the city of Hamilton as an inclusion counsellor for the past 6 years. I worked with individuals with disabilities aged 4-21. This included adapting programming and integrating youth with disabilities into camp, support in the pool, personal hygiene care, de-escalating behaviours and situations, providing first aid treatment and more. I also helped with the programming of group activities and filled in as a group counsellor for mainstream groups when needed.
