Throughout my special needs aide work I have assisted a large range of individuals who all came with unique and different abilities and attitudes. I have learned how to handle physical disabilities through proper assistance techniques (lifts, transfers, cleanups, seizure handling). I have also become skilled at reading mental distress and picking up on the needs of verbal and non-verbal individuals. I have found that the most important way for individuals who demonstrate attitude or behavioural problems was to show that you care and are there to assist in any way you can, if even only just to listen. I am very personable, love to participate in any and all activities, especially ones that draw interest and enthusiasm so I can help achieve the most rewarding experience possible.
