I have completed my both my Addictions and Mental Health Graduate Certificate, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at McMaster University. I also have specific trainig as a Dyslexia Therapist. Through my experiences of working full time at Halton District School Board, at Community Living, and at the YMCA of Oakville, I have learned how to interact effectively and compassionately with distressed and developmentally delayed individuals and their families. As a current Educational Assistant and Specialized Support Worker, I support individuals who struggle with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and many other developmental delays as well as mental illness. Through my experience working in the School System, I have experience in managing crisis situations such as violence in the classroom, de-escalating situations and documenting Incident Reports. Through my private practice, I have experience in speaking with families and social service workers, as well as creating individual support plans, planning daily tasks and routines, and facilitating support groups.
