I am a qualified care aid. I practise safe methods for transfers & mobility issues, encourage individuals to maintain their own independence, & ensure their comfort & security while at home. I have worked independently as a home support worker and in a team environment at residential care homes. Some of my experience has included but is not limited to: Working full-time with a quadriplegic to maintain his independence & safety. Assisting seniors with activities of daily living, maintaining & promoting physical care Respite care for family Rehab assistant working in conjunction with a physiotherapist & occupational therapist. I am also a grief/loss coach (death doula). I have an innate understanding of the hard decisions seniors are making regarding moving, downsizing, de-cluttering years of memories and keepsakes etc etc. My experience is a culmination of hands on help with the physical needs of aging as well as oftentimes missed emotional aspect of this very large transition of aging. My empathetic nature lends itself to seeing more than meets the eye during our time together, and it brings me great joy to unravel some of the emotional upset that is driving behaviours.
