In my previous employment, I was an esthetician. I've always enjoyed working with the public, and working in esthetics allowed me to get to know many different types of people. In doing so, I also discovered I really enjoy taking care of people, especially my elderly clients. This experience made my decision to reeducate as a Personal Support Worker a pretty easy one. Recently, I've been helping care for my elderly father who has Alzheimer's disease, and a rare form of Parkinson's disease. I'm looking forward to caring for people, while offering them the same dignity, respect, and care, as I have to my own father. (I have completed my First Aid CPR Level C through the Canadian Red Cross, as well as my Food Handlers Certification through Ottawa Public Health. I've also done training in Fall Prevention, and Elder Abuse.) I continue to attend seminars in my areas of interest which include Alzheimer's and dementia.
