I am a very compassionate, positive person with a passion for helping others, especially the elderly. I have provided home care support, and have worked in Recreation Therapy for seniors with Interior Health for 4 years now. I have a diploma in Tourism and Recreation Management as well as my Education Assistant certification, both of which have provided me with the skills to work successfully with people of varying backgrounds, ages and abilities. I have also completed numerous other certifications to prepare me for this work, such as Gentle Persuasive Approach training for working with Dementia, Violence Prevention training, First Aid and Foodsafe. In addition, I have been a long time Canadian Mental Health Association Volunteer as a Senior Friendly Visitor, where I have provided companionship and emotional support for seniors in need. I am passionate about this work and treating everyone I meet with dignity and the upmost respect no matter their situation.
