I have plenty of experience working with people. I completed my practicum at Sunnyside Foundation, located in Kitchener, as a recreation therapist assistant for the community Alzheimer’s program. I was responsible for planning activities that catered to each client; as well as, creating a warm relationship between myself and my clients. I also worked for the City of Markham for 3 years in the recreation department. I worked with children between the ages of 3-15 years old. I was responsible for planning and leading various programs and activities; all while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. I also worked as a teacher’s assistant in a kindergarten classroom at Willowbrook Public School for four months. I was responsible for aiding the students with their school work and planning small learning activities. I also gained knowledge and experience by working with students with learning exceptionalities (ADHD, down syndrome and autism).
