I am a warm compassionate individual with a passion for helping others. I began caregiving with my ailing ex-husband 4 years ago offering companionship, outings for lunch, shopping and a little light housekeeping. That extended into palliative care when he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2018 and eventually ended up in St Peter’s Hospital where he succumbed to his illness and passed away April 2019. I helped him with personal hygiene, eating, toileting, transfers from bed to walker/ wheelchair, walks outside, laundry and shopping but more than all of that, gentle kind companionship. Since 2019 I have had several positions caring for ailing seniors providing compassionate, kind, gentle palliative care until their passing Duties included…..night time supervision of ailing client, administration of meds, meal prep, mobility support, laundry, sponge baths and assisted showers, assisted with incontinent briefs etc. Also documenting changes to ensure the family was always informed of any decline or progress, and more than anything offering gentle caring understanding and compassion.
