I am an ambitious and organized individual with a flexible schedule. I have been a care partner to an 86 yr old woman daily for the past 5 years. She suffers from severe arthritis and some dementia. I take care of her pain management, light meals, light exercise, light house work, household organization if requested, shower assisting, laundry, shopping for clothing, groceries, and other items, transportation to appointments and companionship. I also purchase, plant and care for her flower gardens in the summer months. I feel that I am very understanding when it comes to the needs of older adults and I feel that I would be a valuable part of your family members life. I currently spend 3 hrs. a day with my client from 8am to 11am Sunday-Monday. I also served in a nursing as a dietary aide for 2 years and very much enjoyed the meaningful relationships that I developed with the older adults in my dinning room. I always felt that they also enjoyed having me there to talk to. I have partially completed the Social Service Worker - Gerontology course at St. Clair College an plan to continue studying when face to face learning returns.
