Raised with/by my grandparents, so ive had at least 10-20 birds so I'm quite used to them and their habits/needs. I absolutely adore dogs (and really an other animal but between you and me dogs are my favourite) and so does my entire family- literally a 1 dog minimum sort of people. I love cats too. I'd love to help care for your family because isn't that what pets really are? Also do yard work, cleaning, babysitting and elder care.
