Having pet sat for over 4 years now, I can assure you that your pets will be in excellent hands! I started pet sitting for rabbits, cats, and dogs, throughout university while people left the holidays and couldn't transport their animals with them. This then became more consistent, as my student schedule allowed me to feed and walk dogs while their owners were working full time. I have also used pet sitting and my experience with large dogs as a way to budget travel! I dog sat around France for an entire summer, taking care of up to five big dogs at once while their owners were on holiday!
