I personally have a family dog (shihtzu) that I trained myself and regularly take for walks during the summer as it's usually too cold for him in the winter. I have had him for all 10 years of his life and still love teaching him new tricks. I also spend time with any dog I see and, depending on the dog, am very patient with them if they are timid or nervous around strangers.
