I have two younger siblings that I have helped care for since I was about 13 years old. I am comfortable around toddlers and young children. I also volunteer in my church's Sunday school/ nursery regularly, and have been for over seven years. In addition to that, I worked at an elementary school for three years as an aide for a before and after school program. I worked with children ages five to ten years old and I feel very comfortable with this age group. I also worked as a full time nanny in 2018 for a family with children who were three and six. I loved the consistency of seeing the same kids every day. Recently, I worked at a group home for kids who are in the foster system. I directly worked with kids aged 1-13. Many of these kids had behavioural and other exceptionalities that I helped to work through with them.
