Though I have never had any formal babysitting/nanny experience, I have watched many of my own cousins children. In these situations, I was responsible for making meals, bathing, supervising play (including swimming), and putting the children to bed. I have also worked as an overnight camp counsellor for the past 3 summers at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac. In this role I was 1 of 3-4 counsellors responsible for a group of 15 children for the week of their stay. The groups I was responsible for ranged in age from 7-14. As a counsellor, I was responsible for creating and enforcing safety rules, administering basic first aid, ensuring medications were taken on time, cooking meals, organizing activities, and encouraging hygienic practices (for both themselves and their cabins). I am also certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR-B. I am comfortable with any roles that being a nanny might entail. However, I do not have a vehicle and rely on walking or public transit, meaning I would not be able to carry out pickup/drop-off duties.
