My most recent childcare role was in Victoria BC for a family with three children – ages 2, 4, and 6. I worked Monday – Friday with these kiddos, ensuring that I was providing them with a safe, fun, and stimulating environment. My core responsibilities were to ensure that they were up and ready for the day - dressed, breakfast eaten, teeth brushed – all the while, preparing snacks and lunches for the day ahead, as well as planning and implementing the fun activities for the day – be it going to the local water parks, going for hikes or bike rides, or doing at-home activities like arts and crafts or even dance parties! During the school year, I was responsible for drop-offs and pickups from their schools, while taking care of the youngest while the other two boys were in school. The role of this family’s nanny was truly a pleasure. It taught me patience, flexibility, structure, and above all, it taught me the importance of routine.
