| I have four years of experience working with children in various settings. I worked in a family homeless shelter in Calgary AB for 2 years. This gave me experience working with children with disabilities, on and off the spectrum and supporting their parents. Prior to working in a shelter i was a live-out nanny. I was responsible for two 2 year olds, a 3 year old and a 7 year old before and after school. I accompanied the children to activities such as gymnastics, music class and the zoo. My duties consisted of preparing balanced snacks and meals and performing basic household cleaning. I planned days full of fun, learning activities for all children to partake in. I assisted the parents with Early Childhood Developmental skills such as encouraging positive social interactions, teaching children about safety and potty training. I was responsible for bathing the children and getting the ready and settled in bed. Through both working in Shelters and in a home, I have gained valuable experience working with children with different needs and coming from different places. I have a Criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector, child abuse registry check and a valid CPR/ First aid certificate.
