My name is Fiona and I am a qualified OT from the UK who is currently in Australia on a working holiday visa. Right now, I am working as a support worker for a man who has autism, an acquired brain injury and challenging behaviour. He is currently in hospital however usually I work to support him to live independently at home. This includes personal care, social support, community access and completing activities of daily living. I am also working with a 6 year old boy who has autism. I support him in his own home to engage in play activities as well as meal times and bath times.
Back home in England, I worked for a charity called Mencap where I supported people with intellectual and physical disabilities to live independently in their own homes.
I have 18 months experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the UK in a hospital to facilitate the safe discharge of elderly people. I thoroughly enjoy supporting people to get the most out of life and to do the things that they want to do. I am looking to work with adults or children with intellectual disabilities or older adults who need support. I have experience working with challenging behaviour and mental health conditions.
