| For the past three years I have been employed as a Teacher Assistant at the Northern Support School in Launceston. I have worked with a range of students all of whom live with disabilities. My role has been to assist with their learning needs. In addition to this I have been required to assist with things such as; toileting, the use of de-escalating techniques as a response to aggressive behaviour, accompanying students less able on outings and the use of basic sign language. I was also required to complete documentation on the student’s behaviours in terms of eating patterns, social interactions and engagement in activities. Ever since I was a child I have been a part of providing support for my two disabled brothers. My role in their care has involved feeding, toileting, showering, physiotherapy, hoist transportation and administering medications. It has shaped me to be an extremely empathetic person and taught me that although important, caring for people is about a lot more than the day to day essentials. The ability to empower an individual’s choice and bring a positive influence to their health and well-being in a safe manner is essential.

| I have experience with Adhd and have for quite a few years due to myself being one. I have 4 years experience with a child from the age 6-10 on the ASD spectrum, a very high intelligent boy. Low muscle tone and adhd. I have a lot of patience and understanding of the childs needs. I put the child first and make sure they have all they need and are happy. I love playing games and having fun.

| I've had many years experience within the disability sector providing all sorts of support from personal care, household chores, meal preparation and garden care. I love to cook, read, love animals and am a great listener.

Duties were assisting clients with their social interaction, travel training, teaching money handling skills, assisting clients in ordering meals in restaurants, etc Teachers aide in the inclusion program within mainstream schools. Duties were: assisting the students in their lessons such as music, textiles and design, dancing, English, etc Nursing assistant in hospitals Teachers aide in special education units within mainstream schools. Duties were: behavior management, teaching students how to read the clock face, general living skills, such as hair brushing and teeth cleaning, vocational skills such as washing a car, etc

| Working with individuals with special needs brings with a lost of unique challenges and opportunities. The people i work with make everyday fulfilling, and i know my work is making a positive impact and helping each individual to grow, gain skills and work towards independence.

| I have 12 months experience working as an early childhood educator. My roll included caring for children (3-5 year olds) with different abilities and learning difficulties. I currently volunteer at a child care centre. I have my current first aid, working with vulnerable people check, working towards my diploma in early childhood and have my certificate ||| in early childhood education and care. I currently volunteer at new horizons club assisting people with disabilities to participate in sport and recreational activities.
