I have been a disability support worker for over three years. Some of the duties of my role include personal care with assistance in showering and toileting, domestic assistance with house duties and daily tasks, community access, medication assistance, manual handling including hoisting, and relevant documentation and reporting. I have worked with a diverse group of people, including clients and coworkers, and experienced differing levels of abilities and needs. My experience ranges from intellectual disabilities, to physical disabilities, and those with brain impairments. Throughout my job I have exercised the skills of multitasking, communication, teamwork and improved time management and efficiency, even under pressure.
