Experience with: - Personal care (e.g dressing, showering, assisted toileting etc) - Behavioural plans/charts - Difficult behaviours (e.g hitting, biting, grabbing etc) also how to deal with these situations calmly and finding preventable ways/methods to avoid these situations - Seizures - Recreational activities and planning them suited to the individual - 1-1 experience - Positive reinforcement - Emergency situations (e.g choking, seizures occurring for long periods of time, seizures in water etc) - Non verbal communication - Overnight experience - Experience with Austism (high functioning- low functioning), cerebral palsy, fragile x, down syndrome, learning disabilities, adhd/add, development delay etc) I enjoy working with the individual and their parents/caregivers to ensure they are learning but also to ensure that they are enjoying their time with me. I believe it is important for the individual to have fun, laugh and be active. I was also raised in household with a disability so I have an understanding of what families have to go through. My uncle was a quadripelgic who had lived with me my whole life with that condition, up until in passed in 2018. I'm passionate about working with kids and young adults.
