I have been a mother first and foremost to my now 3 adult children then a foster carer since 2000 as well as being employed in various caring roles with House with No Steps - Disability Support Worker, Home care, qualified Certificate 111 in Aged Care Work - A.I.N. My passion and my love of caring has given me so many experiences and rewards over the years. During my time of being a foster carer I cared for over 63 children. Specifically a newborn special needs baby 3mths old till her move to a group home at aged 18. These ages have ranged from 24 hours old to teenagers. I have cared for 2 newborns at once - for over 8 months. During that time both children made all their milestones with no problems at all. Some children we have had come into our care also had different levels of behaviour issues and some came with special needs. All came to be loved and nurtured which I have no problem in giving at all. As well as fostering I also worked as a Support Worker in the community.
