I have recently returned to Australia after gaining experience within a group home setting. I worked as a support worker, delivering person centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism and cerebral palsy. I was first introduced into the world of care back in 2015, when I started to live with and care for my sister-in-law who has Dyspraxia. In my free time I bathed Natasha, aided basic tutoring, supported her in various social situations and accompanied her to appointments. Caring for Natasha demonstrated to me that I can be switched on for extensive periods of time and that I am capable of managing my own needs and the needs of others, simultaneously. This experience led me to pursue a career within care. I am trained to assist administering medication. I’m currently learning to drive and expect to obtain my licence in October, until then I am confident with using public transport. I am first aid trained and hold a current police clearance.
