I worked at Hohepa in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand where I gained my experience in special care. Working at Hohepa has provided me with the opportunities to gain an understanding of a wide range of disabilities including; FASD, Autism, Down syndrome and many more. The one on one environment all allowed me the exposure to work hands on with these children, building trusting relationships, guiding them in their journey and helping them to overcome difficulties. On a personal level I was able to utilizes the skills I had gained to adapt to each individual child’s needs and personality enabling them to reach their full potential. I am comfortable working with all ages and or disabilities. Along with working at the school I worked in residential care in the adult community to assist in their day to day living, care needs and meal preparation. I have also been babysitting children since I was 14yrs old and have worked as a after school nanny I’m the recent months. I worked as a full time nanny back in NZ before moving to Australia, I was looking after 2 young boys 2yrs and 4 yrs the youngest had 22q both beautiful, out going boys who loved to play outside but also enjoy quiet time.
