I grew up with many different pets ranging from large dogs like mastiffs as well as medium/small dogs like Staffordshire bull terrier (english staffy). I also grew up with two cats, too many birds to count, rabbits and rats, and lizards. I'd like to think I have pretty good experience with a large variety of animals because of this.
