I have had a small dog of my own for 15 years, but my more in depth experience includes about 5 years of pet sitting for my sisters 2 large dogs (Staffy breed). I’ve looked after them from the ages of puppy to now (5 and 4). This includes feeding them breakfast and dinner, walking them for up to an hour, taking them to dog washes/keeping up their cleanliness and over night stays with them.
