I have an expected graduation of late 2025, hoping to enter paediatric Occupational Therapy. During my recent placement in a paediatric setting, I supported clients with a range of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and other neurodiverse conditions. I gained significant professional development, learning how to adapt my communication style, including non-verbal methods, to build rapport and provide tailored support. I believe in creating a nurturing environment where children feel valued and respected. This includes actively listening to their ideas and providing opportunities for them to make choices, fostering a sense of independence and self-confidence. I believe in the power of co-regulation to help children calm down and return to a more regulated state. By providing a calm and supportive presence, I can hopefully help children feel safe and secure.
