My name is Allison and I am a second year international student currently studying nursing at uni. I have worked with a wide age range of children for the past few years. I started by volunteering in a mommy and me class in the summers of 2011 and 2012. In the class, I was in charge of watching babies from the age of six months to two years. I have also worked for a tutoring job, where I taught phonics and reading skills to children from the grades of kindergarten to 2nd grade. I have also worked for an after school program helping sixth graders with their homework and other educational needs. Lastly I have worked as a teacher's assistant in The Learning Experience Daycare for the past year. In my classroom, I took care of eight kids from the age of 1 year old to 18 months. My day to day activities was to feed, change and care for the infants. In the daycare, we also worked on walking, talking and sign language skills. At the end of the day, I was in charge of watching all of the children who had late pickups. This allowed me to work with a wide range of kids from the ages of five months to eight years old. Through my job, I gained CPR certification with a specialization in pediatrics and have first aid training.
